MCC is looking for a new Project Manager for development and information dissemination

The Multicultural Information Center is looking for a progressive and motivated individual who enjoys leading people to success.


The Multicultural Information Center operates in accordance with the Act on Immigrant Affairs no. 116/2012. Our goal is to promote progress in the field of immigration. The role of the Multicultural Information Center is to provide the government, institutions, companies, associations, and individuals with advice and information in connection with immigrant affairs. Advise municipalities on receiving immigrants who move to a municipality, compiling and disseminating information on the rights and obligations of immigrants.


We are advertising for a strong project manager to lead projects in collaboration with the Director as well as ensure quality in information dissemination on behalf of our agency.


We are looking for a successful, ambitious, and independent individual who helps to bring out the best in colleagues both inside and outside the institution. This is an exciting job where the emphasis is placed on teamwork, project work, and quality service. It is possible to carry out the work from our offices around the country. The position adheres to the field of information and development.


Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage and plan the tasks assigned to you by the Director.
  • Responsible for the preparation of a plan for the implementation of projects where the goals, needs analysis, limitations, communication, timeline, and costs are defined.
  • Work in close collaboration with the manager of the Multicultural Information Center’s website to ensure that the information there is high quality and current.
  • Dissemination and presentation of projects.
  • Be supportive and encouraging with teammates.
  • Make suggestions for improvement and development.
  • Communicate with municipalities and other partners involved in the reception and service provision for immigrants throughout the country.



Qualification requirements

  • A university education that is useful in work and studies in project management or something that aims at the same goal is a great advantage.
  • Knowledge of public administration is required.
  • Experience in information and publicity is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Icelandic and English in speech and writing. Other languages ​​that are useful in the job are a great advantage.
  • Sustainable experience in managing projects and utilizing a variety of project management tools in a successful manner is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in intercultural competence, immigrant affairs, and refugees in Iceland are required.
  • Knowledge and experience of successful teamwork.
  • Ability to make decisions, independent work methods, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellence in interpersonal skills smf solution targeting is essential.
  • Service-oriented thinking.
  • Very good knowledge and interest in information technology.

Salary according to the current wage agreement made by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and Fræðagarður Union.
