Information to those that cannot return home because of cancelled flights

We are aware that because of travel restrictions around the world due to Covid-19 there are foreigners situated in Iceland who will not be able to leave the country in time before their visa or residence permits expire.

It will not have any consequences for you if you are unable to leave Iceland due to the Covid-19 before your visa/residence permit expires if you have notified the Directorate of Immigration, but you should try to leave the country as quickly as possible.
