Entitlement to wages due to COVID-19
The parliament of Iceland has approved a bill by the Minister of Social Affairs and Children, regarding the right to unemployment benefits in parallel with a reduced employment rate due to a temporary contraction in employers’ activities. The law stipulates that wages paid in parallel with a reduced employment rate do not reduce unemployment benefits.
The Directorate of Labor oversees applications for unemployment benefits due to a reduced employment rate. On the Directorate of Labour’s website, you can find information on payments due to reduced employment rates and quarantine payments in Icelandic, English and Polish.
