Due to overload in order to ensure the safe reception of the large number of people applying for international protection in Iceland, the level of preparedness at borders are now at alert phase.
The Office of the National Police Commissioner expects that the number of applicants for international protection will increase proportionally in the last months of the year. At the same time, housing resources are already almost fully utilised. Raising the preparedness level is part of responding to this situation.
