Various services are obtainable for those who have difficulties integrating into Icelandic society or understanding its social structure. Services and counselling can be provided in the form of interpretation, translation, legal advice, social work and educational advice.
Kvennaráðgjöfin (Women's Counseling)

The Women's Counseling offers free legal and social work counseling. Their main goal is to offer counseling and support to women but they assist anyone seeking their service, regardless of their sex. Opening hours is on Tuesdays from 8pm to 10pm and on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm. The service is free of charge and those in need can drop by or give them a call.

Lögmannavaktin (the lawyers watch)
Free legal advice for anybody in need is offered at Lögmannafélagið (the society of lawyers), on Tuesday afternoons. Inhabitants outside the capital area can be counselled by phone but inhabitants of Reykjavík have to make an appointment.
On their website one can find lawyers who provide service in English, Danish, French, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish and German, as well as forms in Danish, English, French, Icelandic, Serbian/Croatian, Spanish, Polish, Thai and German.

Fjölmenningarsetur provides an extensive service for foreigners. Emphasis is placed on providing service regardless of one's residential status. Assistance is available by phone in the following languages: English (450-3090), Polish (470-4708), Serbian/Croatian (470-4709) and Thai (470-4702).
