Interpretation within the health care service

• A patient that does not speak Icelandic is entitled by law to the interpretation of information regarding health, proposed treatment and other possible measures.

• If there is need for an interpreter it should be stated when making an appointment with a doctor at a health clinic or a hospital.

• It is the organisation in question which decides whether it will pay for the interpretation services.
