Dental services

  • Dental services in Iceland are provided at private dentist practices. It is the parents' responsibility to take their children to a regular check-up at a dentist.  
  • Icelandic Health Insurance reimburse part of the price for children, pensioners and disability pensioners. Children aged three, six and twelve are entitled to surveillance and prevention at a dentist once a year, free of charge.
  • The Icelandic Dentist Association has a webpage where you can find dentists by region (www.tannsi.is).
  • The dental emergency service in the capital area is open during weekends and during business hours on weekdays. You can call them at 575 0505. Information on the dentist on call in on the Icelandic Dentist Association's website  (www.tannsi.is/neydarvakt-tfi). In case of an emergency during evenings or nights patients are directed to turn to the emergency reception at the hospitals.
