The Multicultural School has two programmes of study, a study programme for disabled students and a study programme for new citizens of Iceland. The study programme for new citizens of Iceland is intensive with emphasis on Icelandic, computer subjects and mathematics. The programme is intended for recent immigrants who want to learn Icelandic and adapt their knowledge of English, mathematics and computer subjects to the requirements of Icelandic upper secondary schools.

The evening school in Kópavogur has an Icelandic course for beginners as well as two advanced courses. Instruction deals with grammar along with the spoken and written language. The emphasis is on everyday communication.

This joint project of the Mímir continuing education centre and the trade union Eflingar offers a 120-hour course which emphasises spoken Icelandic and gaining a practical acquaintance with Icelandic society. The course is designed for the needs of people in the job market who do not have Icelandic as their native language. The school operates in several places around Iceland, arranging lesson times with workplace supervisors in order to avoid conflicts between work and studies. It is possible to use this course to shorten Icelandic secondary-school programmes by 10 credits.
- The school is located in a regular appartment because it suits well small groups and diverse studies. Students go on field-trips, cook and eat together regularly, using their Icelandic in a real situation.

The Mímir school for continuing education offers specifically designed courses for speakers with varying first languages. Icelandic lessons are offered for people whose mother tongue is Arabian or Spanish or Russian, for people from Eastern Europe and from the Nordic countries, and for Chinese, Polish, Thai and Vietnamese people. A fast-paced course is offered in written and spoken Icelandic, and there is a wide choice of courses at various levels of proficiency. Both daytime and evening courses are available.
