Everybody of 18 years and above and moving to Iceland to live and work for a short period of time, must report their residence within 7 days of their arrival in the country.
-
Nordic citizens should fill out a form called the Nordic relocation form.
-
Others should fill out a form called the Domestic relocation form and complete the information about the country the person is moving to or from.
-
-
It is possible to fill in the form online, but it is important to print it out and sign it. The Domestic relocation form is available in English and Icelandic.
-
The form has to state all the persons relocating.
-
Relocation can also be reported to Manntalsskrifstofa, Þjóðskrá or at police station.
-
Parents or custodians of children younger than 18 have to announce their children’s relocation as well.
-
Those who are planning to live for a shorter period of time in Iceland, less than 3 months, do not have to report their relocation.
-
Relocation between places in Iceland has to be reported within 7 days of the relocation.
-
A residence is not the same as a legal domicile. A residence can be anywhere.
