The following documentation is good to have with you when coming to Iceland and may accelerate application processes:

• A passport or other means of valid or certified identification.
• Passport photos
• Drivers licence

Originals of certified certificates where applicable – depending on the purpose of your stay and what kind of residence permit is being applied for:

• Birth certificate
• Criminal record certificate
• Marriage certificate
• Custody documentation/Divorce decree/Death certificate
• A registration certificate or other means of proving cohabitation
• Diplomas/certification of education/work
• Information from schools/kindergartens for children, if applicable

Certificates must be translated by an accredited translator into Icelandic/English or one of the Scandinavian languages.
