  • The mutual emergency number in Iceland is 112. Where ever you may be in the country it is possible to phone 112 and ask for assistance.
  • Everyone can phone 112 from a land line as well as from a mobile phone (GSM and NMT) where a connection can be made.
  • A connection to 112 can be achieved even when a telephone number has been disconnected or a mobile phone does not have a Sim-card (phone card).
  • 112 should only be called in emergency, but if there is any doubt, do not hesitate to contact 112.
  • 112 can be contacted to deal with various kinds of emergency. For example: asking for assistance because of household accidents, deaths, children’s social welfare, illness, childbirths, environmental accidents, fire, water damage, violence, ecological disasters and accidents on sea, amongst other things.
