Earth tremors are reported under the summit of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, in the south of Iceland. The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management, in consultation with geophysicists from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, have already evacuated the areas to the south of the glacier as a precautionary measure.

The Chief Epidemiologist in Iceland wants to promote the following due to many inquiries from parents associations, school managers and others regarding possible impact the influenza A(H1N1)v may have on the educational system in Iceland.
The educational system will operate as usual and schools will start on set dates despite the pandemic influenza A(H1N1)v. Furthermore, the Chief Epidemiologist wants to iterate that:
General elections to Parliament [Alþingi] are on 25 April 2009. Only Icelandic citizens may vote or run for election. They must be 18 years of age and be legally residing in Iceland. Those who have moved away from Iceland retain the right to vote for eight years and even longer if they apply for an extension.
Icelandic authorities have extended the adapt stipulation that restricts free movement of people from Bulgaria and Romania until 2012.
